Hey, I'm Coby
young aspiring event/creative photographer based in London
Hi, I'm Coby, a London-based photographer currently studying A Levels while building my portfolio and growing my photography business.
My photography journey began in 2022 when I received my first camera, a Nikon D3500. What started as a hobby quickly developed into a genuine passion, leading me to study Photography at both GCSE and A Level. Through dedication to the subject and countless hours spent behind the camera, I achieved a Grade 9 in GCSE Photography and have continued to develop both my technical skills and creative vision ever since.
Over the years, I have invested heavily in my craft, gradually expanding my equipment from a beginner camera setup to a more professional kit, that allows me to work across a variety of environments and photographic styles. Alongside this, I have attended workshops, conventions, educational events, and work experience placements, all of which have helped shape my understanding of photography both as an art form and as a profession.
A significant turning point in my journey came when I was invited to photograph a charity dinner event. The experience introduced me to the world of event photography and led to further opportunities with a growing number of clients. Since then, I have continued developing my skills through both independent work and by learning alongside experienced professional photographers, gaining valuable insight into the creative, technical, and business aspects of the industry.
Alongside client work, I have spent the past year actively building my portfolio through my Instagram page, where I regularly share new work and document my progress as a photographer. The platform has allowed me to showcase my work to a wider audience, connect with other creatives, and continually refine my style.
One of the most memorable experiences of my photography journey was being given the opportunity to photograph John Lennon's genuine glasses at Abbey Road Studios. As a piece of music history associated with one of the most influential musicians of all time, it was an incredible subject to capture. The photograph was subsequently printed on canvas and displayed in a museum exhibition, marking one of the proudest achievements of my work to date.
Whether I'm photographing an event, exploring the streets of London, documenting the natural world, or working on a creative project, my goal is always the same: to capture authentic moments and create images that leave a lasting impression.
Looking ahead, I hope to continue expanding my portfolio, gaining experience through new opportunities, and growing my presence within the photography industry. My long-term ambition is to combine photography with entrepreneurship, travelling the world to document people, places, cultures, and experiences through a unique perspective.
Thank you for taking the time to view my work. I look forward to sharing more of my journey and, hopefully, working together in the future.
